Paratus/Vodafone relationship ends

Paratus, the 12-person agency that netted Vodafone’s six-figure UK PR business 12 months ago, is to step down from the account at the end of the month.

Ricoh reviews agencies in PR expansion

Japanese electronics company Ricoh is rethinking its engagement strategy in EMEA, calling an agency pitch as it seeks to expand its corporate PR activity in the region.

Blackberry PR review puts Hotwire on alert

Research in Motion (RIM), the company behind the Blackberry smartphone, is reviewing UK B2B and tech PR duties, the Holmes Report has learned.

It is understood that as many as six agencies are pitching for the business – worth an estimated £250,000 – this week. Hotwire has handled the business across the UK and Europe for the past seven years, and is understood to be defending the brief. Read the rest of this entry »

AMD reviews North American PR after leadership shakeup

Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is to review its North American PR business, estimated at upwards of $3 million, putting incumbent Bite Communications on alert.

It is understood that AMD issued RFPs last night, covering the full range of its PR activities, after holding talks with a handful of network agencies. The pitch follows the departures of AMD CEO Dirk Meyer and two other senior executives earlier this year, which have renewed speculation that the company is a potential acquisition target. UK incumbents out as Nokia shortlists four for global PR brief

Nokia has shortlisted four agencies to pitch for its PR activities across the US, UK and head office, effectively ending the tenure of the two UK incumbents: GolinHarris and Good Relations.

The Holmes Report understands that Emanate, the sister firm of US incumbent Ketchum, has made the shortlist along with three other agencies: Fleishman-Hillard, Cohn & Wolfe, and holding group Next Fifteen. Rolls-Royce selects PR agency for European corporate assignment

Edelman adds UK software development firm to digital practice

Edelman has added UK software development agency Encore to its digital offering, taking the overall size of its digital practice in the UK to over 50.

Encore is a Brighton-based agency that develops applications for social networking services such as Facebook and mobile platforms like iPhone/iPad, Android and Blackberry. Its integration into Edelman is another sign of the increasing influence that technology is bringing to bear in the PR world, a trend analysed by the Holmes Report in this story.
