Jimmy Tay has resigned his role as chief executive of Hill & Knowlton Southeast Asia, after 11 years with the agency.

Tay will leave in January without a firm role to go to, and is expected to take a break before determining his next move.

Tay joined H&K in 1999 as deputy MD of Singapore before being promoted to head that office a year later. After growing the operation to become – arguably – the city’s biggest, he became Southeast Asia CEO in 2005.

Along the way, Tay received several industry accolades, including PR Agency Head of the Year at the 2009 Asia-Pacific PR Awards. Under his leadership, Hill & Knowlton was named Southeast Asia Consultancy of the Year by the Holmes Report in 2009.

In an internal memo to staff, Lines said that the agency is “working on his transition”.

“Jimmy has been a strong team player for Hill & Knowlton in Asia-Pacific over the years and I am going to miss his contribution to our team,” said Lines.
