VIDEO: Shell’s Herbert Heitmann on deep-sea drilling and why the oil industry needs to “face the truth”

Just one month into his new role as Shell’s global comms chief, Herbert Heitmann finds his new industry confronted by one of the biggest crises in corporate history. In a candid video interview recorded at the European Communications Summit in Brussels, Heitmann says that oil companies must make a better case for deep-sea drilling, despite BP’s woes in the Gulf of Mexico.

In response to this Holmes Report interview with his predecessor Bjorn Edlund, meanwhile, Heitmann adds that the oil industry needs to “face the truth” when it comes to its commitment to renewables.
