Weber Shandwick wins global PR duties for key mobile trade body

Weber Shandwick has been named global PR agency-of-record for the GSMA, the powerful trade association behind the Mobile World Congress.

IT giant Wipro seeks PR agency for global brand push

Indian software giant Wipro is on the hunt for a global PR agency to help it sharpen its positioning across key international markets.

Ebay reviews global comms capabilities

Auction website Ebay has asked a number of PR agencies to respond to RFIs, as part of a global benchmarking process that covers both its external and internal comms capabilities.

However, Ebay corporate comms SVP Alan Marks denied speculation that the process, which is being handled by Deloitte Consulting, amounted to a review of its existing PR agencies – which include Edelman in the US, and Shine and Blue Rubicon in the UK. Read the rest of this entry »

Nokia reshuffles comms heads, calls international review

Nokia UK and Ireland comms chief Anna Shipley has departed her role for a new position in Bejing, overseeing  the mobile phone giant’s PR across China, Japan and Korea.

The reshuffle, which has also seen Shipley’s Beijing-based predecessor Louise Ingram shift to Nokia’s Finland HQ to head global mobile phone comms, comes as the company searches for one agency to support its PR needs across the US, UK and head office. Logica selects Bite as European agency

UK tech company Logica has selected Bite as its lead European PR agency, following a final-round shootout against Lewis PR.

Bite, which already handles Logica’s UK account, takes charge of a $750,000 brief aimed at positioning Logica’s technology as a “fundamental building block of society across Europe.” Read the rest of this entry »

Top ten most-read in 2010

With my luck a big story will break this afternoon. Barring that, this will be my last post this year, before I return in the New Year. So, to add yet another year-end list to the mix, I’ve compiled a ranking of the top ten most-read posts from this blog in 2010.

MSLGroup wins United Technologies global PR pitch

United Technologies Corporation (UTC), the giant US tech conglomerate, has selected MSLGroup to oversee a new global PR brief, following a keenly-contested review.

The Holmes Report understands that MSLGroup prevailed against a number of contending networks, including Porter Novelli, Burson-Marsteller and Ogilvy PR.
